The Alexandra Palm is a tall elegant palm with self-cleaning properties making it more visually appealing than most palms and combined with its capacity to handle heavy rain inundation has made it a favourite in Queensland. Will grow to an average height of 15m and can be kept in pots in semi-indoor positions such as verandahs or courtyards but ideally is spectacular in the larger garden. The pinnate fronds are green above and silvery green below and grow to about two metres long. The trunk is grey and ringed and often bulbous at the base. It produces large creamy white flower clusters and its fruit is red berries about 1 cm in diameter.
